The COHOS TRAIL ASSOCIATION

East Side Trail - (Odell Unincorporated township) Most of this trail is in good condition. However, some of it was built in an old eroded logging lane and this lane gets wet sometimes. It could use some erosion control and improved bog bridging in two spots. The East Side Trail skirts Nash Bog. It is a pleasant, quite level woods trail. In the south, it follows Nash Stream upriver close to the water, then cuts uphill to the right. Work was done on that rise several years ago and it is holding up well.
Once over the rise, the trail crosses a moist spot on a bog bridge. This bridge should be replaced in a year or two, as should several others in the trail.
Trail reaches a spur trail to Devil's Jacuzzi. We could use a sign here.
Above the spur trail, the East Side Trail reaches an old logging way that is wet often. The path skirts this on the left and stays dry, but there might be some improvements made here to assist the hiker, perhaps one bog bridge, or several rock steps put in place in the narrowest areas.
Trail becomes a true woods trail and is delightful much of the way out to the grassy Nash Spur Road. There is a big blowdown in here. It has to be taken out. Where the trail reaches the Spur Road, there should be a big post placed with blazing and a CT sign placed on it.
There is one spot where a side spur cuts down to Nash Bog so hikers can have a look at the fine mountain bog. This needs clipping sometimes. It could use a boardwalk and a viewing platform in the future so people can get out onto the bog without trampling the vegetation.
The walk out to the northern end of the Nash Stream Road requires no maintenance. At the junction with the Nash Stream Road, we should put up a post and trail sign indicating the name of the trail.
