President's Message

Well, here it is February already! We have seen some use of the Mountain Bungalow by snowmobilers this year. It's great to have people in there. Any one looking to cross country ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile and want to use the Bungalow, just email us or give us a call. It's generally available and is still donation only. We would like to do some guided snow shoeing on the Moose Alley Trail this year. If any one is interested, please get in touch with us. It is suitable for any skill level. The trail is about 3.7 miles round trip. The cost is $15.00 per person. You supply the snow shoes.

Check out the new item in the trail store. It's a CT sign like you find on the trail. Just slightly larger (6" X 5"). The twist is, that it is cut into puzzle pieces (appx. 27 pieces), all of which are interlocking. It's a great way to help the trail and have a piece of the CT at the same time.

We are still looking for trail adopters. If anyone would like to adopt a trail, please get in touch with us sometime over the winter and we will set you up. There are many trails available, especially here in the north country.

See you on the Trail

HELLO FROM THE COHOS TRAIL

Hello from snow on the Cohos Trail,

Just a reminder to try to pledge $5.00 or a half million to the Cohos Trail in 2010 so we can carry out the largest set of projects in the trail's history.

I'm pledging $100 right now, because I want to be sure that there are 14 bunks available to hikers at historic Kamp Kirk in the Nash Stream Forest this summer.

And because I want to be sure there is double the bunk capacity at Mountain Bungalow in Pittsburg this summer.

And I want to be certain there are more than a dozen miles of all new trail completed in Pittsburg this summer so that the Cohos Trail is complete end to end and can formally link as a finished pathway to the Sentiers Frontaliers great trail system in Quebec.

I want to be sure we can open the Slide Brook Trail again by creating a 300 linear foot puncheon bridge span.

And I want to see planning go forward for a ten mountain hut system for hikers, trail bikers, paddlers, xc skiers, snowshoers, anglers, wildlife watchers, mineral collectors, peak baggers, fitness buffs, and free spirits of every stripe.

Join me in my pledge to support the Cohos Trail. Make a donation of $5 or $10 or $20 or $35 or $50, $100, $200...you name it.

Go on-line and send a donation through Paypal at www.cohostrail.org. Or send a check to The Cohos Trail Association, 266 Danforth Road, Pittsburg, NH 03592.

All donations are tax deductible. We are a 501c3 nonprofit association. Donations of physical goods, such as lumber or windows is also tax deductible.

See you on the trail. (I'm the one stuck in the snow.)
