President's Message

Lake Francis Trail

Spring is finally here in the north country. The trees are starting to bud out and the early flowers are blooming. We have even started our cucumbers and summer squash out in the cold frames.

We are looking forward to meeting and seeing our new and old friends at the 2nd Annual Summer Celebration. It promises to be a fun filled weekend for everyone.

We will be looking for help this summer constructing new trails in Pittsburg and Clarksville. One section in particular will require nearly 500 feet of bog bridging. When these trails are completed, it will provide a much more pleasant hiking experience.

I want to remind everyone that it is time to renew your memberships for 2009. If you are not already a member, consider joining and support our trail efforts. We are still looking for an up-to-date computer system so that we can better manage the association's affairs as well as the website and newsletter. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can help us in that respect.

For those of you that haven't been to our trail store recently, there are several new items available. We now offer CT T-shirts, CT baseball caps and CT coffee mugs. All proceeds go to the efforts of The Cohos Trail Association. You can access the Trail Store Here. By purchasing the Cohos Trail items, you will be helping to put the last miles of trail on the ground and be able to show your pride in the trail system at the same time!!

We seem to have the database for the Cohos Trekker e-newsletter fixed and all bad emails removed. For those that should have received the newsletter, and didn't, check your spam folder. Set it to accept emails from cohos@cohostrail.org. If you are not on our mailing list for the Trekker and would like to be, please email us at Cohos Trail

The Mountain Bungalow on Prospect Mountain in Pittsburg is ready to go. Please go to Bungalow for more information.

The 2009 Trail Changes can be found here. Print them out and bring them with you on the trail! Additional 2009 updates will be added as the new trails are completed. We are currently working at GPSing the trail system and will make that available as we get the coordinates. Much of the new trail is already GPSed and we will release those as soon as the trail is finished.

Our most recent grant was recently received from Fields Pond Foundation Thank you for your most generous grant!

Please go to the Bulletin Board for important new information about the Cohos Trail.
