WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR THE COHOS TRAIL?

Some trail groups have a Long Range Plan. We have one too, if you can call it that. Below you will find information about what The Cohos Trail Association hopes to do over the course of this new decade.
Certainly, we will finish the trail north to the Canadian border. Then we hope to link with the Sentiers frontaliers of Lac Megantic, Quebec to reach Mont Megantic at Notre Dame du Bois.
OKAY, WHAT NOW?
Below is a simple list of some of the things we hope to complete in the very near future along The Cohos Trail.
- Complete all 162 miles of the CT and link with the Quebec groups.
- Now that the new Nash Stream Forest Percy Loop Camp is open on the Percy Loop Trail, we would like to turn our attention to the second campsite in the Forest, the Sugarloaf Arm Camp. We hope to work on that site in 2009 so that hikers may camp in that part of the Nash Stream Forest legally at a designated spot that has some amenities, such as a tent platform, a latrine, and an information kiosk.
- Bring all signage, blazing and erosion control work up to national standards.
- Close the big 10-mile gap from Eagle Pond to East Inlet Road.
- Open up the Prospect Mountain Trail over to Ramblewood Cabins and Campground.
- Open up the Covell Mountain Trail with a spur path that serves as an access trail to/from Round Pond.
- Open up the Coon Brook Bog Trail from the access at Round Pond to the Coon Brook winter road.
- Open up the Big Brook Bog Trail from Coon Brook Rd, to Unknown Pond, then on to Big Brook Bog Road.
