PROJECT AIRLIFT: DAY ONE 🚁🥾
Before anything could take flight, there was a lot of work to do on the ground!
Day One brought our crew together at the Balsams Wilderness Ski Area, where we sorted, organized, and staged the materials for the next day’s helicopter lifts. Every load had to be carefully assembled and ready to go so that when the helicopter arrived, we could move quickly and efficiently.
Piles of lumber, roofing, tools, and supplies may not look very exciting sitting on the ground, but each one represented a destination deep along the Cohos Trail and a whole lot of work that was about to become possible.
Project Airlift was officially underway. 🚁💪🥾
Thank you to The Balsams Wilderness Ski Area for letting us use their land to stage the loading area.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped build the piles for the airlift sling loads.
